SWAT 4 – The Stetchkov Syndicate
If you like the Rainbow Six Series or even Counter-Strike, then this is the game for you!
• Single Player
The Single Player includes 13 missions and some more in the Expansion “SWAT – The Stetchkov Syndicate”. Around 30 realistic weapons from Flashbangs to pepper spray and several submachine guns, assault rifles and more, used by real police officers make it to an awesome experience. The main target of every mission is to arrest as many tangos (=Terrorists) as possible. Basically the game is all about about room clearance as it has no open field maps.
You get a team of 4 other SWAT-Officers that will receive and follow your orders but if you don’t like to give orders, you should try out the Multiplayer Co-op.
• Multiplayer
The multiplayer contents multiple force on force modes and a Co-op mode.
• Barricaded Suspects
This mode actually is just normal Team Deathmatch. SWAT team versus Tangos. The winner is the team that first reaches the score set by server-administrator or reached the best score at the end of a team which is also set by the server-administator.
• Rapid Deployment
Three to five bombs are randomly placed on a map. The SWAT team has to defuse them in a time, set by the server-administrator, while the Tangos have to prevent them to do that. If at least one bomb is not defused at the end of the time, the Tangos win.
• VIP-Escort
A VIP randomly set by the server wears a white suit in most cases and has to be escorted by the SWAT team while the other team, the Tangos, have to take the VIP prisoner for 2 minutes. The VIP only has the equipment, set by the server-administator, which is a pistol and no armor in most cases. The VIP must NOT die; the team, that killed him, automatically loses the round. If the VIP leaves the server earlier, the round results in a draw.
• Smash & Grab
A suitcase is placed on the map. The tangos have to take it and bring it to a certain ‘rally point’ while the SWAT team has to prevent them doing that. The one carrying the suitcase is only able to use his secondary weapon and is walking slowest, if he dies, the suitcase has to be grabbed again. If the time runs out before the Tangos can bring the suitcase to the ‘rally point’, the SWAT team wins. But if the Tangos complete their objective of bringing away the suitcase, the SWAT team loses and the Tangos win.
• Co-Operation
A team of maximum 5 players (10 in the expansion) has to complete the same missions as in Single Player. Only SWAT team can be played in this mode. One member of the team will be promoted to leader (by vote, random server choice or forced by an administrator). Two teams can be formed: team Red and team Blue, each team has its own leader. Each team won’t see the orders the leader of the other team gave. There is no respawn, if you die during the operation, you won’t be able to rejoin the same round but you will be back up for the next mission. The main objective is to complete the same objectives as in single player. The mission is failed if a hostage dies or the whole team does. If the team leader dies another one will be chosen randomly by the server but after that a new one can be vote or forced to lead due to the operation.
The sounds, graphics and effects are quite realistic but not the best and give you a feeling of really being there. Bad thing: The game also contains a few bugs, like tangos shooting you while they weren’t even pointing at you but it’s not affecting the gameplay too much.
The lesson is clear: If you enjoy tactical gaming or are a fan of the Rainbow Six series or Counter-Strike you will not be disappointed of this game!
